April 27-29, 2005 The 2004 Annual MSRT Conference held at the Sturbridge Host had a higher number of attendees than in previous few years. This was due to the ever-popular "Buzz Bowl" competition, which brings with it many students, instructors and team coaches. Although the overall number of attendees was high, the number of technologists attending the conference for CEU's has been declining over the past few years. On line CEU's, publications including tests for CEU's, and hospitals sponsoring free CEU's as a recruitment tool are just a few of the reasons that would explain the lower number of technologists in attendance at the conferences. Those of us on the conference committee cannot do anything about the multitude of CEU offerings available today. In a continuing effort to improve the conference, we shall be making some changes to the conference. On the surveys filled out last year, attendees seemed dissatisfied with the location of the hotel and its need for updating. We decided to have the host the 2005 Annual MSRT Conference at the Wyndham Hotel in Westborough. The guest rooms have recently been updated and were very comfortable, spacious, and clean. The meeting space is centrally located and updated as well. The management team that services functions is extremely professional and helpful. We had lunch while we visited and the food was excellent and a good value.  I was not familiar with the area and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Wyndham in Westborough is only minutes from the Mass Pike and Interstate 495, and a more convenient commute for attendees traveling from the Boston, Cape Cod, and Merrimack districts. The dates for the 2005 conference are April 27th through April 29th. The Buzz Bowl competition will begin on the evening of April 27th with the CEU lectures to be held on Thursday and Friday, the 28th and 29th of April. Don't forget to mark these dates on your calendar. A special note to all the radiology managers and supervisors out there; now that staffing your facilities is becoming a little easier, why not send some of your best technologists to the conference as a bonus or perk for being exemplary employees. Most facilities have education / professional days. The $95 daily registration fee, including meals, is a cost effective tool for employee retention while at the same time assisting your employees needing to meet their CEU requirements.
