MSRT ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2006
April 26-28, 2006
Our 75th Annual Conference is just around the corner and the conference committee is busy arranging the final details. The location for the conference will remain the same; however, the name of the hotel has changed from the Wyndham to Doubletree. Accompanying the name change will be upgrades to the guest rooms, meeting space, and restaurant. We look forward to hosting our conference there again, as the location, service and food are all very good.

Several lectures will exemplify how radiology personnel continue to break boundaries, both in and out of the workplace. We will open the conference Thursday with a presentation / discussion led by Shannon Cahoon with Joy Williams and Gina Long. Joy is a nurse who traveled to Louisiana as part of a relief group. Gina is a technologist who lives in Louisiana, who will be sharing her experiences with us.
Friday morning will begin with a panel discussion led by Kevin Reynolds to include John Landry, Linda LeFave, and Marianne Spatola. John works for GE and is an expert on the constantly changing CR and DR technologies. Linda and Marianne are both directors for medical imaging programs within Massachusetts. They will be discussing the difficulties that educators face in their attempt to keep up with the changing technologies of today.
There will be one radiation protection lecture each day, followed by a combination of lectures including trauma radiology, CT/PET, Pathology, Nuclear Medicine, Education, Teleradiology, Teambuilding, and Radio Frequency Lesions (RFL’s).
As always, one of the largest attractions for the conference is the “Buzz Bowl.” Last year we had over 170 students in attendance. This year we anticipate an equally large number of student attendees. Marie Oliver and Shannon Cahoon will be overseeing the Buzz Bowl contest, with Linda Doucette joining them this year. The Buzz Bowl is not only fun, but more importantly, a great registry review; showing again the need to stay current with changes in the radiologic sciences. Monitoring this competition takes a lot of time and effort, and what most people don’t realize; they not only volunteer their time for the 2-1⁄2 day competition, but are ineligible to earn CEU’s during that time. Now that’s dedication; we are all proud to have them volunteering their time for this event.
Our fantastic raffle this year is a week in the Bahamas. The drawing will be held during the luncheon on Friday. In an effort to stay with the Bahama raffle, we will be hosting a Bahamian Night, complete with a DJ, dance floor and cash bar. Entrance to this event will be $5.00, so grab your flowered shirts and shorts and meet us there. Don’t forget to make your hotel reservations soon, as the room reservations are filling up quickly. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Respectfully submitted,
